Is my pet always supervised while at STAY?
Yes, we have plenty of staff supervising the play all day long, and we have staff on-site 24 hours a day.
What kind of training does your staff have?
STAY PET is owned and operated by Anne Graves; an experienced veterinary technician, and Michael Lauria; a professional dog trainer with years of experience in managing cage-free boarding and daycare facilities. Many of our staff members have prior experience in dog boarding and dog daycare facilities, and most are certified in Pet First Aid and CPR.
Does your overnight staff sleep in the facility?
No, our 3rd shift staff are awake and in our boarding area with the dogs.
Where will my dog stay while at Stay?
Each dog family has their own private 50 sqft suite with 6ft solid walls & comfortable beds.
What is kennel-free boarding?
Kennel-free boarding means just that, no kennels crates or cages. The dogs sleep on futon beds, papasan chairs… and even the floor if that’s what they prefer. We have plenty of bedding available, though most of the dogs prefer to pile up together on a couple of the futons.
When will kennel-free boarding be available at STAY PET?
We plan on beginning our kennel-free service in early 2017.
Will private suites still be available?
Kennel-free boarding is just one option that we’ll be offering at STAY. We’ll also have plenty of comfortable private suites available if that’s your preference.
My dog has never done cage free boarding before, how do I know he/she will be comfortable?
We’ll carefully evaluate every dog that stays with us, not only to find out if our setup is appropriate and safe for them, but to make sure that they are comfortable in our environment. We invite owners to watch as we conduct the initial evaluation, so there are no surprises. You’re seeing what we’re seeing.
How do I go about having my dog evaluated?
Simple: Call us. We schedule all evaluations in advance, to ensure the we have sufficient time to introduce each dog into our group; we don’t like to rush the process. Generally, we schedule evaluations from early to late afternoon, to avoid interruptions by incoming boarding and daycare dogs. We conduct evaluations Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
What about dogs that are on special diets, or require medication?
No problem. We have many years of experience working with dog requiring medication, and that have special dietary needs.
Is there an additional charge for medicating a dog?
How will you feed the dogs in the kennel-free area?
Don’t worry, we don’t feed the dogs in groups. We have several large crates that we set up at feeding times, and every dog is fed separately. For dogs that cannot be crated, we have a number of sectioned off areas where they can eat on their own.
What should I bring when I board my dog at STAY?
We only require you to bring your dog’s food and any medication he/she is currently taking. We encourage owners to bring their own bedding, and you’re welcome to bring anything that may make him feel more comfortable like blankets, toys, etc. Note: Please do not bring bowls unless your dog has special needs. It is hard for us to keep track of them because they are cleaned between each meal. We also do not want to accidentally break ceramic bowls.
What is the difference between “dog daycare” and “dog boarding?”
Dog daycare generally means that you’re leaving your dog for a period of time during the day; while your at work, taking a day trip, shopping, etc. You would then pick your dog up by the end of that same day. Dog Boarding simply means that you’re leaving your dog for one or more nights; while on vacation, business trips, etc.
I work from home, why would I bring my dog to daycare?
People often utilize dog daycare for the benefits of socialization with other dogs and people. Ideally, dog daycare is a safer environment for this type of socialization than dog parks, because all of the dogs have been evaluated, and are supervised by experienced staff members. Some people just want their dogs worn out from play so they’re a little easier to manage. Socialization and exercise are crucial for a healthy, well adjusted dog.
What do the dogs do while they’re at daycare?
At STAY, we like to let the pups spend most of the day interacting with each other, while we supervise the play. They wrestle, run, rest… then wrestle again. We have a large facility, with an even larger outdoor area, so there’s plenty of space for play. When weather permits, we have wading pools and sprinklers out in the yard, and we have plenty of play structures in our outdoor space.
What if my dog doesn’t like to play with other dogs?
Not every dog loves to wrestle; some prefer to spend their time lounging, and hanging out with people. We have a more relaxed group of dogs that tend to spend the better part of the day in the boarding area… this is the space with all of the futons and chairs. We have staff with them all day long, and you’ll often find one of our staff members sitting on a bed, surrounded by napping dogs. All of the dogs are taken outside frequently throughout the day.
What if my dog REALLY doesn’t like other dogs? is there a separate area for dogs that don’t get along with others?
Dogs that cannot be socialized in groups will be exercised individually by one of our staff members. All of the dogs in our care receive plenty of exercise and outside time.
Are there any breed restrictions at STAY?
No; we carefully evaluate each individual dog, and we’re confident in our experience, and our ability to recognize potentially problematic behaviors in a dog, no matter the breed.
How do you keep your facility clean?
All private suites are cleaned daily. In the kennel-free area, we’ll immediately clean up any messes as they’re made, while we’re supervising the groups of dogs. The fact that the “messes” aren’t sitting for hours before being removed, helps to keep our space more sanitary and odor free. We also do frequent, thorough cleanings of the facility, using safe, environmentally friendly cleaning products. All of the dog waste is stored until it is collected and composted by the GREEN PET COMPOSTING COMPANY.
Do you offer a discount if I have two dogs?
Yes, we offer multiple dog discounts.
Do you offer any discounts on dog daycare?
Yes, we offer multiple dog discounts on daycare, and we have a selection of daycare packages to choose from.

Drop-offs 7am-5pm M-F/9am-5pm Weekends.
Pick-ups 7am-7pm M-F/9am-7pm Weekends.
Late pickups available by appointment for additional charge.

Does my dog need to be vaccinated?
Yes. We require guests to be current on Rabies & Distemper Combo and have Bordetella within the last year (though we reccomend every 6 months).
Why can’t I tour the facility when I drop my dog off?
There are a few reasons we do not allow tours at drop off. The most important reason is for your dog! We are trying to make the drop off experience quick and stress free for him or her. Once your dog has been taken back we don’t want them to sense you are around, it makes for an easier settling in period. We also don’t want our boarding guests to be disturbed! A new dog is enough excitement for our boarders, add in a new person walking thru and it is just too much. Our goal is always to keep our guests calm and relaxed. You are welcome to schedule a tour in advance of your dog’s stay, we’d love to show you around. Stay is a fantastic place!!!
Is your facility secure?
Yes. All play-yards have 6ft+ fences with multiple gates for safety. Our hotel features both a security & smoke detection system that in an emergency alerts local police and fire. Plus, we have staff supervising the dogs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Your pets are never left unattended.
What time do you recommend dropping my dog off?
We always recommend dropping your dog off as early in the day as possible. This ensures your dog will get exercise and plenty of time to settle into Stay before bedtime. It doesn’t cost you any extra to drop off early so take advantage and let your dog have some extra fun! And really, don’t most of our dogs hate to watch us pack anyway?!
What is your Cancellation Policy?
We have a 48 hour cancellation policy for boarding. During the peak holiday seasons our cancellation period lengthens to 1 week prior to scheduled boarding time. Late cancels will be charged for 50% of their scheduled boarding stay. No shows will be charged for 100% of their scheduled boarding stay.
